Finding Focus

8 03 2008

Recently, I have been blabbering about my personal life. Although this blog site was created as some sort of therapy, I have decided to spare you the details of my personal life. I have decided to be more useful and not a pain in the neck to my readers. Well, not that I have that much readers. The last time I have checked, this site only earned 292 hits without anybody commenting. I guess, most of those hits are not even credited to other persons. Most of those hits can actually be credited to my own obsession of daily viewing and occasionally updating this site.

In any case, I want to have more focus on my blog posts. I want this site to be more informative and less mushy or sentimental. Although I do not intend to compete with Wikipedia or with How Stuff Works, I want this site to be a good source of information, especially on the topic of automobile performance parts and car racing. Although I may still occasionally post personal, sentimental ramblings, most of my posts from now on will focus on automobiles. In this manner, I believe that this site will have better direction and purpose.

I have always been passionate about cars and I want this site to serve as an expression for my passion for cars. Although I am far from having encyclopedic knowledge about cars, I believe that I have enough knowledge about cars. I want to share this knowledge to the general public in a manner that is not too technical but still practical. To some extent, I want this site to serve as some sort of basic manual for those who are interested in tinkering their automobiles. Hopefully, this site will evolve into something better and useful.

Turbo Charger

Improving the performance of your vehicle can be done in several ways. One way of doing it is to replace the built-in engine with a more powerful engine. However, this option is not very practical considering the money, time and effort that you need to spend. Even if you hire professional mechanics to do the job, it would still be impractical economically speaking because you have to shell out significantly large sum of money. On the other hand, a more practical way of improving the performance of your vehicle is to simply install aftermarket add-on performance accessories such as turbochargers.

A turbocharger is a set of components that can be purchased as an aftermarket product. It is generally comprised of a compressor, tubes, heat exchanger or intercooler, filters, sensors, gauges and manifold. The compressor is connected to the camshaft to derive mechanical power. The compressor is a special type of pump that compresses the air before being pumped into the combustion chambers.

Most of my clients at the shop prefer turbochargers to be installed in their automobiles. Turbochargers are relatively easy to install. It does not require drastic overhauling of the engine system and air intake system. It simply involves connecting the built-in air intake to the turbocharger. Installing turbochargers will not only increase the power of your automobile. It will also significantly improve its combustion efficiency and mileage.

Simply put, your automobile will travel faster and farther with the same amount of fuel, without modifying the engine itself. The principle behind turbocharger is similar to the principle of increasing the heat of a coal-fueled stove by fanning it. Basically, a turbocharger increases the speed and volume of air that enters the combustion chambers. Greater amount of air means more efficient fuel combustion. Efficient fuel combustion can be directly translated to greater mechanical output of the engine. Efficient combustion means lesser amount of wastes
